Under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), employees have the right to extra break time to eat and/or drink to support milk production and job-protected leave for perinatal/postpartum appointments or pregnancy-related illness. The PWFA is a powerful companion to the federal PUMP Act—which requires employers to provide break time and a lactation space to pump—as it requires employers to provide additional accommodations for breastfeeding employees.
State of Breastfeeding Survey Highlights Need for Improved Workplace and Public Support
Stronger infrastructure to support breastfeeding and pumping parents is needed both in public spaces and workplaces, according to the latest State of Breastfeeding Survey conducted by Mamava and Medela. The study also revealed parents' biggest breastfeeding challenges and where they go for lactation support.
Mamava x Chicago Sky Partner to Be a Game Changer for Breastfeeding
Mamava is pumped to be the official sponsor of lactation support for the Chicago Sky! The Wintrust Arena now has two new lactation pods for breastfeeding guests and employees of the team and facility. Over the next two seasons, we’ll partner with the Chicago Sky to raise awareness of the need for public lactation infrastructure and support, celebrating the idea that breastfeeding and pumping happen everywhere parents may go.
@MAMAVA has got the right idea! This pod is specifically designed for pumping and breastfeeding. I wish they were provided in more public locations for ease, comfort, and privacy.
